Race baffles + Y-pipe?
Anyone ever used race baffles on their stock exhaust? I think they look pretty good (larger opening) and sound good too (from youtube videos). The intallation seems to be pretty straight forward. I'm looking to keep a stock look to the bike, but want a bit more sound. This is an inexpensive mod, since the baffles can be picked up for about $100. I was also thinking of picking up an Akrapovic Y-pipe ($240) to delete the cat and save a few lbs. All said and done it would be like a 3/4 system with a stock look for only about $350.
For referece the yoshimura TRC 3/4 system is about $900, and Akrapovic 3/4 system would be about $1,400.

If you like the stock look of the exhaust and like saving money and DIY projects then go for it.
That is similar to what I just did for the exhaust on Britney.

You'd be very close to an aftermarket slip-on system going this route. If I could do it over again, I'd do this.
To save even more money, you can just gut the stock Y pipe; this won't get *quite* as good of airflow as aftermarket due to the shape of the stock unit, but I'm guessing you couldn't tell one bit of difference.
Cost of project goes from $350 down to ~$100...

I did see a video of a guy that broke out his cat with a screw driver, and did the race baffles. I think he even made his own baffles for like $40. I don't mind paying $100 to get all the stuff I need, and I actually kinda like the Akrapovic Y-pipe. I would mostly be doing the Y-pipe for looks and weight savings. $350 is pretty cheap after all for a 3/4 system. Besides, I don't want to make it tooo ghetto, lol. I do believe this is a good route as opposed to paying top dollar for aftermarket slip-on's though. Can't believe how much they cost.
