Does the removed O2 sensor give you a check engine light? What is the reason for removing it?

So, no check engine light? I thought most full exhaust systems had an 02 bung (lol).

Are the newer R1's a closed loop system?

A car has a closed loop system for example. The o2 sensors are taking readings from the exhaust and making adjustments to keep it at a certain air/fuel ratio. Per EPA standards stoichiometric ratio is about 14.7 and that is what most things run at. If you are going to block off the o2 sensors you might as well get a PC or something to get the bike down to a richer setting where there is more power. The PC V replaces stock o2 sensors with wideband o2 sensors so you can get a larger band of readings. It can compensate for a 13.5 air/fuel ratio and make adjustments to get there.

I forgot to mention....
Open loop systems have their ECU set and the bike runs. There are no adjustments to be made. Carbureted bikes for example are all open looped.

Got it, that all makes sense. I am not sure if the R1 is open or not though. From the sounds of it, Daves bike doesn't have the 02 sensor so the PC must be correcting for it somehow.

I believe this is the map we installed:
M418-015 Yoshimura full exhaust, Stock or aftermarket air filter, O2 sensor disconnected
I do not get any problem lights. Could be there is a code in the system memory but so what. haha
Bike runs like a banshee.
